One of the most quirky production car that Toyota has ever made nowadays is undoubtedly the Venza, it's weird in the sense that it has no specific category to put into, it's not a wagon, it's not a SUV, it's high off the ground and it is available in a four-wheel drive configuration. The closest category that we can put it into is a crossover SUV, abbreviated as a CUV.

First thing that many people will take note for is the overall car design. It's quite unique, as in it's not the sahpe that we used to know and love. It takes the most practical and best attributes, which is the lift and drivetrain of a SUV and the passenger carrying capibilities of a proper station wagon.

The driver's seat isn't exactly extraordinary to sit in for the Venza, but it isn't supposed to be. It drives like a sporty wagon or SUV. It's unusual since that the seats are higher than in a normal car, but it drives like a low-down sedan. The suspension are tuned to be on the soft side and the engine will not back down should more asked out of it.

That is all attributed to a rather decent 4-cylinder or the more powerful V6, which is used in most of Toyota's higher tier vehicles. The strong 268 hp and 246 lb/ft torque of the V6 is linear and the torque delivery is broad, which means a good pickup and predictable driving characteristics, unique to N/A vehicles.

The Venza passes the NHISA crash tests with flying colour. It scores the maximum five stars for almost all segments but the rollover test. It was even rewarded with the Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety in 2009 to 2011. And with so many safety features like stability control, traction control, electronic brakeforce distribution, ABS, Smart Stop, airbags, and brake assist, it's little to no wonder as to why the Venza is reputable in the safety department.

After walking around the outside, you will be pleased to find that the interior quality is top-notch. The seatings are very comfortable and even comparable to the Camry sedan, which is a mid-size luxury sedan that Toyota manufactures. It provides more than enough space for five adults and more cargo space than you will every ask from it. It also provides Bluetooth connectivity and rear-view camera.

You might think that the Venza is not proven well enough as it's only produced from 2009 to the present time. But with Toyota, reliability is definitely not an issue, the engines are used for multiple other Toyota models and it's already selling quite well in the US and even Canada. For some, it's the ideal vehicle that fits their criteria exactly, a 5-man passenger carrier that can haul cargo well with exceptional safety.
