Toyota Prius

One of the most controversial compact hatchback nowadays has got to be the Toyota Prius. Undoubtedly, many hate it for the concept that it’s bringing to the table, an eco-minded mass production people carrier that is designed to save as much fuel as possible while maintaining daily convenience.

The Prius works slightly different from your day to day car in the form that it doesn’t require a battery charging station because it’s a hybrid. Which means that you still put fuel in the car and the small engine, a 1.8 liter straight 4 will charge the motor while driving, and when required, provide a small punch to the powerband.

There are mutliple reason as to why you wold want to look for the Prius, for example, it’s a hatchback design, which menas that it is spacious and is able to cope with hauling cargo. It has a glass cover rear. Other than the boot space, the rear is oversized thanks to its shape, whether the wagon or hatchback variation.

Other than the fact that it’s spacious, thanks to it’s sheer weight from it’s batteries and relatively low center of gravity, the car rides smoothly and comfortably, while the handling cannot be described as sporty and very tactile, it’s definitely decent and you won’t feel like the car is going to roll over.

It’s also insanely dependable, when it first came out, it was a pretty new concept, so it’s a surprise that most of the first batch Priuses actually survived to this day. Which translates to 10 years of service, that inspires a lot of confidence into drivers to believe that the car will not give up on them and can be relied upon.

So, if you’re looking for a good and solid eco sedan, it can’t come much better than the Prius, and it’s very mainstream nowadays, so you won’t stick out like a sore thumb amongst the crowd, which is a peeve for some people. It does everything you could want it to do and nothing more, in other words, jack of all trades, master of none.
